The main use for Karils is Magic Defence and I believe it is the strongest Magic Defence armor without a Melee Attack negative, which is why you might see it used more for Melee than for Ranged. Switching to Void with the same stats has a DPS of 10.0. So you are going to be hitting very slightly higher with void, but you're going to be eating more and get much shorter trips with void. It has roughly the same dps as karils, but with a special attack. Also with karils you use 1 bolt per attack which can be costly in the long run, while with msb (e), you don't use arrows nearly as often. I used to consistently get 2 kill trips with karils and a blessed coif, with elite void I scarcely get 2 kill trips and kill times overall seem way slower. I have ornate pool. I try to only eat after killing spawn, during poison pools, or after walking away from fireball to maximize DPS. I’ve never woox walked.I only use prayer on Dharok, Karil, and Ahrim and I kill them in that order at the start. The other three I tank. I take off my plate body and legs when I mage dharok and Karil for higher mage accuracy, then bring a range gear switch for Ahrim. I use the full DDS spec bar on Ahrim before I finish him off with a MSB (i). Greater mage and range defense. Karils is more useful in many circumstances. I'd say go with Karils. You rarely range a monster who uses melee up close where he can hurt you, if defense matters. Ahrim the Blighted is the oldest of the Barrows brothers and uses the Magic corner of the combat triangle. His crypt is found in the centre of the Barrows. He wears robes, which make him vulnerable to Ranged as well as Melee attacks. Ahrim can easily damage the player with his magical attacks, as they are very accurate even on dragonhide armour. The massive range (10 squares vs rcb 7 vs karil 8) is really nice to have and the thing is pretty damn accurate (100 vs rcb 90 and karils 84) with decent damage splats (78 range str vs karils 55 and rcb addy bolts 100/mith 82).
